LIV Golf set out to flip professional golf on its head, making it faster, louder, and built for a new generation. Their mission is bigger than tournaments; it's about modernizing the sport, expanding its global reach, and making golf feel electric, accessible, and impossible to ignore. Through team formats, high-energy events, and a fresh focus on entertainment, LIV is rewriting the rules and opening the game to new fans around the world.

[ The Ask ]

The LIV Golf team brought us in with a clear goal: win new fans, keep them coming back, and build real loyalty in a digital-first world.

We got to work on four key challenges:

  • Attract Younger Audiences: The format broke through early, but sustaining momentum with younger, more diverse fans needed a deeper strategy.
  • Deepen Fan Engagement and Loyalty: LIV needed to move beyond big moments and create a fan experience that felt personal, connected, and community-driven.

  • Optimize the Fan Journey:  From first discovery to long-term loyalty, there were missed opportunities across the digital ecosystem to engage and grow the fan base.

  • Use Emerging Technologies the Right Way: LIV didn’t just need the latest tech, they needed smart ways to apply AR, IoT, and blockchain to enhance the fan experience without falling into the hype trap.

[ Our Playbook ]

We ran several focused research sprints that delivered actionable insights and strategic guidance to the LIV Golf board. Our solution centered around four main areas:

  1. Fan Engagement Strategy
    • AR, IoT, and 5G Integration: We explored cool immersive experiences both for fans at the course and watching from home. Think AR overlays during live events and wearables that track player stats in real-time, stuff that makes watching golf feel more like playing a video game than just spectating.
    • Entertainment-Centric Content: To hook younger, tech-savvy audiences, we recommended blending sports with entertainment,  partnering with social media influencers and creating content that works across multiple platforms.
  2. Fan Journey & Data Touchpoints
    • Holistic Fan Mapping: We mapped out the entire fan experience from first hearing about LIV Golf to post-event interactions. This helped us identify key digital moments (like app sign-ups or live streaming) where LIV could better connect with fans.
    • Personalization at Scale: By building smarter fan profiles, we showed LIV how to deliver tailored content and offers that feel personal whether you're watching from your couch or standing on the course.
  3. Rewards Platform
    • Data-Driven Loyalty System: We evaluated various platforms and recommended a simple, points-based system where fans could earn and redeem rewards for exclusive content, merch, and event perks. Nothing builds loyalty like making fans feel special and appreciated.
  4. LIV Blockchain Considerations
    • Web3 for Fan Innovation: Looking toward the future, we explored how blockchain tech could create unique fan experiences and new revenue streams. We laid out a step-by-step approach starting with NFT collectibles and smart-contract ticketing, while being realistic about the challenges and risks.
